ASL Media

There isn’t always a lot of media available in ASL or about Deaf characters, this page is here to hopefully keep track of what is available. Not all content is available in ASL or may only have a few scenes with ASL.

ASL streaming services:

• vsynplus subscription required.
• DCMP
• Pbs kids has an asl interpreter on screen for some shows.
• Signing Time subscription required.

Movies

• Barbie with ASL captioning on Max
• Antman with ASL captioning on Disney+
• CODA movie on Apple TV

TV Shows

• Switched At Birth(2011 - 5 seasons). Teenage drama that incldudes deaf characters, played by deaf actors. ASL is not always visible or accurate. But for a mainstream focused show, it has a lot of ASL in it.
• Deaf U on Netflix Reality show on Gallaudet campus
• Echo on Disney+
• El Deafo Apple TV animated show. Little ASL, but young, deaf main character.
• Born This Way Presents: Deaf Out Loud(2018 - 1 episode) Reality pilot from 2018 from A&E.
• Sue Thomas F.B.I(Eye) (2002 3 seasons) - Deaf main character plays an FBI Agent. Some ASL.
• Vision On (1964 — 1976) - Not ASL: “Vision On was a British children’s television programme, shown on BBC1 from 1964 to 1976 and designed specifically for deaf children.” BBC One
